WOMEN'S TENNIS VICTORIOUS OVER RIVAL STOUT

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team defeated their I-94 rival UW-Stout today 7-2, continuing their recent dominance over them.

The Blugolds improved to a record of 2-2 in dual matches this season and a conference record of 1-0. The Blugolds won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches. With the win, the Blugolds have won every dual meet between the two teams since 1997.

No. 1 singles player Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) cruised in her match winning 6-1, 6-1. Then she teamed up with Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) and won at No. 1 doubles 8-4.

No.3 singles player Liz Deprey (So.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and No.6 singles player Kristin Neuman (So.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) repeated that by winning their singles matches easily and then both teaming up winning their doubles match 8-2.

No.2 Singles player Kristie Carlson (So.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) and No.5 singles player Alli Taplin (Jr.-Dayton, MN/Champlin Park) were the other Blugold members to capture victories over the Blue Devils.

Up next for the Blugolds is the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tournament to be held in St. Peter, MN Friday (Sep. 23) through Sunday (Sep. 25).
