WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO ST. SCHOLASTICA

EAU CLAIRE - With a close final of 5-4, St. Scholastica took the victory in the head-to-head matchup today at the McPhee Physical Education Building.

Of the partner's matches, only the duo of Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) and Krisite Carlson (So.-Arden Hills, MN/Mound's View) won with an 8-6 score in the No. 2 flight. The third flight partners of Liz Deprey (So.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and Brit Wagner (Fr.-La Crosse/Central) kept it close before falling 9-8.

On the singles side, the six matches were split. First ranked Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo,MN) sent down her opponent in two 6-1 sets. No. 3 Deprey won a close first set by a score of 7-5 before falling 0-6 in the second. She recovered and notched a victory with a decisive 6-3 final set. Kristin Neuman (So.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) also won her match with another thrilling 7-5 score followed by a 6-1 triumph in the sixth flight.

Eau Claire is now 1-1 this season.

The Blugolds travel to Decorah, IA tomorrow to take on Luther College at 11:00 a.m.
