WRESTLING READY FOR FIRST HOME MEET

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team will host Luther College (IA) Tuesday in a non-conference duel meet. This is one of six meets the Blugolds will host in McPhee Physical Education Building this season.

Eau Claire is 0-3 overall with loses coming to Lakeland College 28-9, Coe College 31-6 and St. John’s University 22-13. Luther is entering the meet 0-0 in dual meets and are currently ranked 5th in the NCAA.

Top wrestlers for the Blugolds are Josh Holforty (Jr.- Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) and John Berlin (So.- Shell Lake, WI). Both wrestlers are coming off first place finishes at the Augsburg Open last weekend. In the gold class, Holforty took first place in the 197 pound weight class last weekend in the Augsburg Open. In the silver class, Berlin took first place in the heavy weight class last weekend.

Travis Grawin at 141 pounds is ranked 5th Nationally for Luther. Grawin is 5-3 on the season and was a 2007 All-American. Lee Meirick at 125 pounds and Brandon Reyerson at 174 pounds each have a 6-3 record for Luther College.

The action is set to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in the McPhee Physical Education Building
