WRESTLING LOSES ALL THREE AT LAKELAND DUALS

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team lost three dual matches today as it kicked off its season at the Lakeland Duals at Lakeland College

The first dual match was against Coe College, in which the Blugolds lost 31-6. In the second match, the Blugolds lost to the host, Lakeland by a 28-9 score. The Blugolds finished out the day with a loss to St. Johns by a score of 22-13.

In the match against Coe, the Blugolds had two winners. Thad Betzold (Fr.-Deer Park, WI) won 4-1 at 165 pounds and Josh Holforty (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) won at 197 pounds by a 6-1 score.

Against Lakeland the Blugolds had two winners. Matt Sisbach (So.-Viroqua, WI) at 125 pounds defeated his opponent by a 5-0 score. Andy Johnston (So.-St. Cloud, MN) won at 149 pounds with a 3-2 score.

Eau Claire finished out the day against St. Johns. The Blugolds had four wins against the Johnnies. Andy Miller (Jr.-Appleton, WI/North) won at 133 pounds with a 1-0 score. Andy Johnston won again at 149 pounds with a score of 8-4. Joey Miller (Sr.-Lake Tomahawk, WI) won at 174 pounds with a 12-5 score, and Josh Holforty won the last match for the Blugolds. Holforty won at 197 pounds with a 15-3 score.

Next up for the Blugolds is the Augsburg Open in Minneapolis, Minn. The event is on Saturday, November 17 at 9 a.m.
