WRESTLING TO HOST TWO DUAL MEETS
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team will be back in action this week, taking on St. Olaf on Wednesday and UW-Whitewater on Saturday. The Blugolds come into the week with a 5-5 dual meet record and a 3-0 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet record. St. Olaf has a 4-7 dual meet record and has dropped its last five meets and is 1-7 in the last eight meets. Whitewater, which is ranked 10th in the latest NWCA Brute-Adidas top 30 national poll, will head to Stevens Point on Friday before coming to Eau Claire. Currently, the Warhawks are 2-1 in WIAC meets and 9-8 overall in dual meets. Eau Claire’s Josh Holforty (Jr.-Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) will look for his 25th win of the season wrestling at 197 pounds. Holforty is ranked sixth in the country at 197 pounds. On Wednesday he will face St. Olaf’s George Jimenez, who placed fifth at the junior college nationals for Moorpark Community College earlier in his collegiate career. On Saturday, the Blugolds will try to stay undefeated in WIAC dual meet play. Whitewater will challenge the Blugolds though, as it will travel three ranked individuals at 141 pounds, 165 pounds and at heavyweight. Last season when the Blugolds faced a ranked Whitewater team, Eau Claire came out on top 21-18 in Whitewater. Eau Claire also fared well against St. Olaf, winning 34-12 in Minnesota. Both dual meets are set to begin at 7 p.m. in the McPhee Physical Education Center. - KM -
