SECOND-RANKED UW-LA CROSSE TOO MUCH FOR WRESTLING

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-La Crosse Eagles and their second-place ranking saw a good fight from the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team, but in the end the Blugolds lost 30-16 at the McPhee Physical Education Building tonight.

Patrick Senzig (Fr.-Mauston) won his match in the 149 weight class on a decision. The score went 4-3. Josh Holforty (So.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) also won by decision. His final was 5-3 at 197 pounds. In a major decision of 13-1, Derek Sikora (Sr.-Neillsville) won his battle in the 165 weight class.

The Blugolds are now 1-6 in dual meets and 0-2 in WIAC dual meets. The Eagles are 2-0 in WIAC dual meets and 2-1 in dual meets altogether. La Crosse came in with five wrestlers who were in the top four in Division III.

Next up for Eau Claire is a meet on Saturday against University of Dubuque-Buena Vista. The wrestling gets underway at 9:00 a.m. in Dubuque, IA.
