WRESTLING FINISHES 10TH AT THE COBBER OPEN

MOORHEAD, MN - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team finished 10th out of 14 teams today in the Cobber Open hosted by Concordia College.

The Blugolds ended up with 34 team points on the day. Great Falls ended up winning the meet with 170.5 points.

Joey Miller (So.-Lake Tomahawk, WI/Lakeland Union) at 184 pounds was the only Blugold to place, finishing fourth in his weight class. Miller had five victories on the day, including two pins. Miller ended up losing in the consolation third place match by a 5-3 decision.

Dave Vanevenhoven (Sr.-Appleton, WI/Kaukauna) at 149 pounds, Lance Valiquette (Jr.-Auburn, WA) at 165 pounds, Jon Erickson (Fr.-Jim Falls, WI/Cornell) at 174 pounds, and Nick Hoeft (So.-Merrill, WI) at heavyweight all went 2-2 on the day. Two of Vanevenhoven's wins were by pin fall.

Up next the Blugolds will host a dual meet against Luther College on Tuesday in the McPhee Physical Education Center. The action gets underway at 7 p.m.
