WRESTLING DEFEATS LAWRENCE FOR FIRST WIAC WIN
APPLETON - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team defeated Lawrence University today by a score of 29-21 for its first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet victory. The victory gives the Blugolds an overall dual meet record of 2-12 and a WIAC dual meet record of 1-3. The loss drops Lawrence to 1-7 dual meets and a 0-3 WIAC record. The Blugolds benefited from four Lawrence forfeits on the day. Andy Miller (Fr.-Appleton, WI/North) at 133 pounds, Tony D'Antuono (Sr.-Waukesha, WI/South) at 149 pounds, Josh Kasuboski (Fr.-Wautoma, WI) at 157 pounds, and Derek Sikora (Sr.-Neillsville, WI) at 165 pounds all won by forfeit. The only Blugold picking up a win in action was Justin Mc Auly (Jr.-Clintonville, WI) at 197 pounds, as he defeated his opponent by technical fall 17-2. Up next the Blugolds will host UW-Oshkosh in a conference dual meet on Friday, February 3rd. The action begins at 6 p.m. in the McPhee Physical Education Center.
