EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s hockey got back on the winning track Friday night with a dominate performance over Concordia University. The 6-2 victory gave the Blugolds the season sweep against Concordia, and they also improved their overall record to 6-4 and conference record to 3-0. In the first period, the Blugolds got off to a fast start when Kristin Faber (Fr.-Austin, MN) scored a shorthanded goal just one minute and twenty seconds into the game. The Blugolds never looked back from there as they scored two more goals in the first period. Maddi Hammer (Fr.-Owatonna, MN) scored the second Blugold goal at 6:13 of the first, and Faber found the net again midway through the period to give the Blugolds 3-0 lead which they took into the intermission. Concordia came out firing in the second period and cut the deficit to two goals on an Amber Cmejla goal. Eau Claire didn’t take long to get that goal back as Margret Campbell (Jr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) scored the Blugold’s fourth goal at 18:01 of the period. Cmejla then answered back with her second goal of the evening to put the score at 4-2 heading into the locker room.
