FABER RECEIVES NCHA HONORS

MENOMONIE, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire women’s hockey player Kristin Faber (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) has been named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) player of the week, conference spokesman Layne Pitt has announced.

This weekend the Blugolds picked up two NCHA victories, defeating Finlandia 7-1 on Friday and 2-0 on Saturday. On Friday Faber came up for the Blugolds in a big way, scoring the first hat-trick of her career. Only five others in program history have had a hat-trick. Two of her three goals came during short-handed play and the other was on a power play. Her two short-handed goals, the first of which was a game-winning goal, ties an NCAA Division III record with three other individuals for most in a game. As a team, the Blugolds scored three short-handed goals which also ties an NCAA Division III record. Faber now leads the team with 13 points on eight goals and five assists, and is tied for first in the conference with four game-winning goals and three short-handed goals.
