RANKED YELLOWJACKETS SHUT OUT WOMEN’S HOCKEY

SUPERIOR, Wis. – No. 9 UW-Superior totaled four goals in the first period and did not look back today as it took a 6-0 game over the UW-Eau Claire women’s hockey team.

The rough first period saw evenhanded goals at 8:16, 15:36 and 18:45. The first goal was on a power play at 6:24. Lindsay Savat (Fr.-Apple Valley, MN/Thomas Jefferson) was in goal for the period and made five saves.

Danika Porter (Fr.-Rosemount, MN/South St. Paul) took over between the pipes for the final two periods, collecting 21 saves. She gave up an evensided goal 3:13 into the second and an advantage goal just before the end of the third.

Superior outshot Eau Claire 32-to-20 and cashed in on 2-of-3 power plays. Eau Claire went 0-for-3.

The loss brings the Blugolds to 7-5 while Superior improves to 8-3.

Eau Claire will face Finlandia University (MI) tomorrow in Michigan at 2 p.m.
