WOMEN'S HOCKEY SKATES TO SCORELESS TIE

HANCOCK, MI - In what has become a familiar site, another overtime and another tie were notched for the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team after tonight's 0-0 contest versus Finlandia University.

This marks the sixth tie for Eau Claire and the ninth OT on the season. The three overtime non-ties were 2-3 losses. The previous record for ties in a season was three.

Now the Blugolds stand at 0-8-6 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and 6-12-6 in all play. The Lions are now 1-9-2 in NCHA games and 7-12-3 overall. Eau Claire is fifth in the NCHA with six points while Finlandia is last with four.

Eau Claire had 14 shots on goal through the game while Finlandia had 17. The Blugolds were the only ones to manage a single shot in the extra period. The most was the nine-shot opening period for the Blugolds. Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) put up the most shots for Eau Claire with five. Both teams had their chances for more, as Eau Claire and Finlandia each had four power plays.

Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) made 17 saves tonight through the 65 minutes of play.

Tomorrow wraps up the regular season for the Blugolds. They will face Finlandia at 1:00 p.m.
