WOMEN'S HOCKEY ROUTS ST. KATE'S

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team showed up big on Senior Night at Hobbs Ice Center to pummel the College of St. Catherine Wildcats by a 7-0 score.

Many Blugolds saw their point totals rise tonight. Amanda Schultz (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) was the main threat of the evening as she recorded a hat trick, the first this year for the team. Her first two goals came in the opening period at the 3:50 and 15:55 marks and both were evenhanded. Her second period score in the final minute of the period came on a power-play while Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) and Allie Campbell (Jr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) provided the assists. Havard teamed up with Martina Korinek (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) for the assists on Schultz's first goal while the second went unassisted.

Havard set another season-record with four points totaled in tonight's play, all on assists. She also provided an assist on the even-sided goal by Margaret Campbell (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) at the seven minute point in the first, as did Karen Hebert (Jr.-Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels). Havard's other point was on a pass to Laura Brackey (Sr.-Oakdale, MN/Tartan) who found the back of the net twice tonight. The first, at the 2:36 point in the opening period, had no assists and then she scored at about the same point into the second with Havard's assist. Theresa Guindon (So.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) also scored for Eau Claire, hers coming 9:29 into the second on a Crystal Wasem (Sr.-Chaska, MN) pass.

Eau Claire outshot St. Kate's by astonishing 65-18 margin. Three team records were set for the season, those being goals, shots on goal, and points. The team's eight assists tied the November 22nd mark against Augsburg College.

Eau Claire had all seven goals and 49 shots on goal by the second break, forcing the Wildcats to replace their goalie. The Blugold goalie had a relatively relaxing night, however. Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) was forced to only make 18 saves and go up against three power-plays. Meanwhile, Eau Claire went 1 for 6 in its opportunities.

The Blugolds move to 6-10-4 on the year. The tough year continues for the now 1-15-0 Wildcats.

Eau Claire now finishes up the year with Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play, where it is 0-6-4. The five-game stretch begins tomorrow in UW-River Falls at 7:05 p.m.
