WOMEN'S HOCKEY TIES LAKE FOREST AGAIN
LAKE FOREST, IL - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team for the second time this season had to settle for a 2-2 tie against conference opponent Lake Forest today. With the tie the Blugolds are now 5-10-2 overall and 0-6-2 in conference play. The Foresters are now 11-5-3 overall and 4-2-3 in conference action. The Blugolds scored first just five minutes into the contest as Theresa Guindon (So.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) connected on a power-play goal to put the Blugolds up 1-0. The Foresters would respond with just five minutes remaining in the first period when Courtney DeHoey scored a power-play goal to tie things up at one apiece. After a scoreless second period the Blugolds would once again go back in front on another power-play goal this time by Laura Brackey (Oakdale, MN/Tartan) at the start of the third period to put the Blugolds up 2-1. Kelly Ivey (So.-Apple Valley, MN) assisted on the goal. It appeared the Blugolds were going onto win until the Foresters' Dayna Kanis scored with just 43 seconds left to tie things up at two. The Blugolds would out-shoot the Foresters in overtime 4-2, but had to settle for the 2-2 tie. Blugold goalie Jill Arendt (Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) stopped 33 shots on the night. Five of the last six games between the two schools have gone to overtime, including all three this season. Up next the Blugolds will return home to face UW-Superior on Friday night at the Hobbs Ice Center. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m. Eau Claire-Lake Forest Box Score - JR -
