WOMEN'S HOCKEY GETS SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team won its second consecutive game with a 4-2 decision over St. Mary's University at the Hobbs Ice Center Saturday night.

The win completed a weekend sweep of non-conference foes after the Blugolds downed Bethel University, 4-1, Friday night. The win also reversed a 5-1 loss to St. Mary's in the second game of the season back in early November. The Blugolds are now 4-6 all-time against the Cardinals.

The Blugolds outshot St. Mary's, 52-15, en route to their fourth win of the season against nine losses and a tie. St. Mary's slipped to 2-7-2 on the year.

St. Mary's got on the scoreboard just 30 seconds into the contest on a Madeline Lofas goal. Freshman Lauren Havard (San Sangelo, TX/Arapahoe), the Blugold goal leader with eight, evened the score at the 3:48 mark on an unassisted power play goal.

Martina Korinek (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) scored the next two Blugold goals, one at the 9:32 mark of the second period and another 38 seconds into the third. That pulled her into a tie for the team scoring lead with Havard at 14 points. Tara Hayner (Jr.-Stillwater, MN) closed out the scoring with a power play goal at 9:25 of the third period, her second goal of the season.

St. Mary's tallied a consolation goal with 3:48 left in the contest.

Heather Prochaska (So.-Madison/East), playing just her fourth game of the year, earned the victory in the nets with 13 saves.

The Blugolds, who won back to back contests for the first time this year, will hit the road to face the College of St. Benedict in another non-conference contest Wednesday night.
