WOMEN'S HOCKEY BATTLES TO 4-4 TIE WITH ST. KATE'S

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team battled the College of St. Catherine's to a 4-4 tie here tonight at Ridder Arena.

The Blugolds fell behind early with the Wildcats jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. Eau Claire fought back in the second period scoring two unanswered goals to even the game at two.

Amanda Schultz (So.-Stevens Point/SPASH) scored the first Blugold goal off a pass from Tara Hayner (Fr.-Stillwater, MN) just 1:01 into the period. Laura Suppes (Fr.-Falcon Heights, MN) evened the game off a Martina Korinek (Fr.-White Bear Lake, MN) pass with 8:51 remaining in the period. The Wildcats would add another goal to put the Blugolds down 3-2 entering the third period.

The Blugolds quickly evened the game at three when Sarah Zollars (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) took a Megan Oswall (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) pass to score just 1:13 into the period.

St. Kate's once again grabbed the lead four minutes later but Suppes countered with her second goal of the game off a Hayner pass to tie the game at four.

Both teams took 26 shots with goalie Tara Berlute (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Holy Angels) making 22 stops. Eau Claire was 0 for 2 on power plays while St. Kate's went 1 for 4.

The Blugolds will be in action next when they host UW-River Falls Friday, December 5 at Hobbs Ice Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
