WOMEN'S HOCKEY NETS THREE ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS
RIVER FALLS - Three freshman members of the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team have earned Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Conference honorable mention honors, it was announced recently by conference sports information director Jim Thies.
The 2003-04 Blugolds finished the season with a school record 10 wins, finishing 10-15-2 overall. The season was highlighted by a pair of wins against nationally-ranked opponents as the Blugolds topped sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point 2-0 and ninth-ranked St. Thomas 3-2. Eau Claire finished the final 14 games of the regular season with a record of 8-6-0.
Forward Laura Suppes (Fr.-Falcon Heights, MN) earns honorable mention status after tying for the team lead with 16 points on eight goals and eight assists. She led all Blugolds in assists. She tallied three game-winners for Eau Claire, including the game-winner against Stevens Point. Her three game-winning goals tied her for third in the NCHA in that category.
Allison Campbell (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and Tara Hayner (Fr.-Stillwater) join Suppes on the All-NCHA honorable mention team. Campbell and Hayner anchored the Blugold defense that posted four shutouts during the season. The pair also provided some offense from their defensive positions as Hayner finished fourth on the team with 10 points on three goals and seven assists while Campbell totaled six points on four goals and two assists. Hayner's seven assists tied her for second on the Blugold roster.
UW-River Falls' Lindsy Carlson was named the NCHA Player of the Year while UW-Superior head coach Dan Laughlin earned Coach of the Year honors.
