WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES THIRD AT UW-STEVENS POINT INVITE
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team completed the UW-Stevens Point Invitational today, finishing third as a team, with two golfers earning medalist honors. The Blugolds shot a 341 today on the par 73, 5,832-yard course, giving them a two-day total of 685. UW-Stevens Point won the invite with 641 strokes, while UW-Whitewater finished in second with 670. Rounding out the top five, UW-Oshkosh took fourth place with 698 strokes, and UW-Superior shot a 723, good enough for fifth. Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, WI) and Torie Ives (So.-Osseo, WI/Osseo-Fairchild) both tied with UW-Stevens Point’s Jessica Urban for third place at the invite. Following day one, Sobotta led the Blugolds by shooting one stroke better than Ives, but Ives shot one better than Sobotta today, giving both 161 total strokes. They finished eight strokes behind the winner, Michelle Pascavis from UW-Stevens Point. Other Blugold golfers who completed the invite were Brianna Obermueller (So.-River Falls, WI) who shot a 95 today for a two-day total of 184 and tied for 25th, and Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, WI) and Sarah Hansen (Sr.-Bangor, WI), who tied each other for 29th with 189 strokes. Hansen shot 11 strokes better today for a total of 89, while Swift had 99 strokes today. The Blugolds will finish up their fall season in River Falls next Saturday and Sunday at the WIAC Championship, which they have won the past three seasons. Final Results - KM -
