WOMEN'S GOLF IN NINTH AFTER DAY ONE OF DIII MIDWEST CLASSIC
HUDSON, Wis. – After day one of the Division III Midwest Classic in Hudson, the UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team sits in ninth place out of 15 teams. The Blugolds shot 370 today and are only six strokes behind the fifth place Loras College. The top three teams today were the University of St. Thomas with 330 strokes, Gustavus Adolphus College with 342 strokes and Wartburg College with 343 strokes. The first day of the classic was rained out last year, but all of the top three teams today also finished as the top three last year. On the individual level, Torie Ives (So.-Osseo/Osseo-Fairchild) led the Blugolds with 84 strokes, which put her in a three way tie for fifth place. She is only nine strokes off the leader, Laura Heck from St. Thomas. Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, WI) is only three strokes behind Ives, with an 87-stroke performance and is tied with two other golfers for 15th place overall. Brianna Obermueller (So.-River Falls, WI) finished day one with 97 strokes, tied for 55th place, while Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, WI) finished tied for 64th with 102 strokes. Sarah Hansen (Sr.-Bangor, WI) also competed today and finished with 104 strokes in 69th place. The Blugolds will be back on the course Sunday, teeing off at 8:30 a.m. at the Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson. Day One Results - KM -
