WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES NINTH AT WARTBURG INVITE

WAVERLY, Iowa – The UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team completed the Wartburg College Invite today, moving up two spots from the first day to finish in ninth place out of 14 teams.

On the final day of the event, the Blugolds matched their first day total of 348, totaling 696 for the weekend. Gustavus Adolphus, who finished in second place last season at the NCAA Division III National Championship, won the invite with 626 strokes.

Leading the Blugolds was Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, WI) who shot a 160 this weekend, with 76 strokes on the first day of competition and 84 on the final day. She dropped three spots from the first day of competition, finishing tied for sixth with five other golfers.

Other Blugold golfers at the invite were Torie Ives (So.-Osseo, WI/Osseo-Fairchild), who finished tied for 32nd with 171 strokes, Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, WI), who finished tied 55th with 179, Brianna Obermueller (So.-River Falls, WI), who finished 70th with 186 strokes and Sarah Hansen (Sr.-Bangor, WI), who finished 71st with 187 strokes.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will travel to Bloomington, Ill. for the Illinois Wesleyan Invite. The meet will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.
