WOMEN’S GOLF COMPETES AT WARTBURG INVITE
WAVERLY, Iowa – The UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team finished up day one today at the Wartburg College Invitational in 11th place, with Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, WI) tied for third place overall. In today’s meet, the Blugolds shot a 348. Although the score put them in 11th place out of 14 teams, they are only three strokes back from the sixth place teams. Gustavus Adolphus, who finished in second place last season at the NCAA Division III National Championship, currently leads the field with a score of 309. Sobotta led the Blugolds today with 76 strokes. She is tied with two others players and is only two strokes behind the leader. Sobotta improved her score at the Wartburg Invite this year, as she was in 14th place after day one last year. Other Blugold golfers at the invite today were Torie Ives (So.-Osseo, WI/Osseo-Fairchild), who finished tied for 42nd with 87 strokes, Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, WI), who finished tied 55th with 91 and Brianna Obermueller (So.-River Falls, WI) and Sarah Hansen (Sr.-Bangor, WI), who finished tied for 67th with 94 strokes. The Blugolds will tee off for the final day of the Wartburg Invite at 8 a.m. Sunday at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly. Day One Results - KM -
