HANSEN NAMED NGCA ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLAR

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – UW-Eau Claire women’s golfer Sarah Hansen (Sr.-Bangor, Wis.) has been named to the 2008 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team for Division III, NCGA officials announced today.

Hansen, an elementary education major, maintained a 3.61 cumulative GPA at UW-Eau Claire and graduated this spring. She was one of five golfers to represent UW-Eau Claire at the NCAA Division III Championship, where she finished in 99th place overall. Hansen was also named as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete last fall.

This year, 402 golfers from Divisions I, II and III were recognized for the honor. Only 56 athletes from Division III were selected to this year’s team. In addition to Hansen, three other golfers from the WIAC were recipients, including Michelle Pascavis (UW-Stevens Point), Megan Scherg (UW-Oshkosh) and Diana Schmidt (UW-Whitewater).

The NGCA All-American Scholar Team is made up of golfers who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and participate in at least 66% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
