WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES THIRD AT CARLETON INVITATIONAL
NORTHFIELD, MN - After being tied for first after the first round, the seventh-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's golf team had to settle for a third place finish today at the Carleton Invitational. The Blugolds finished with a score of 673 (+97), 16 strokes behind champion third-ranked University of St. Thomas, who had a score of 657 (+81). 18th-ranked Buena Vista University finished second just one stroke ahead of the Blugolds with a score of 672 (+96). 24th-ranked UW-Stevens Point finished a distant fourth with a score of 704 (+128). Host Carleton College finished fifth with a score of 709 (+133). The Blugolds' Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls, WI) finished tied for second overall just one stroke behind the overall winner. Loney, the first round leader, ended with a score of 157 (+13). Jesse Thompson (Jr.-Plover, WI/SPASH) finished in sixth place overall for the Blugolds with a score of 163 (+19). Meghan Sobotta (So.-Arcadia, WI) was the next highest Blugold as she finished tied for 14th with a score of 174 (+30). Becky Washleski (Fr.-Cambridge, MN/Cambridge-Isanti) shot a two-day score of 182 (+38) to finish in a tie for 24th. Kim Huber (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) finished 32nd with a score of 187 (+43) and Courtney Adkins (Fr.-Sparta, WI) was 39th with a score of 199 (+55). The Blugolds will compete in their last tournament of the spring on Friday as they will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. First round action begins at 10 a.m. Final Results - JR -
