WOMEN'S GOLF IN SECOND AFTER FIRST DAY OF SPRING FLING

NORMAL, IL - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is nine strokes behind leader DePauw University after the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling being held at Ironwood Golf Course.

The Blugolds, led by new head coach John Means, shot a first round 331. DePauw University is in front after shooting a 322. William Woods University is in third place with a first round score of 337.

The Blugolds' Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls, WI) is in tie for first place overall after she shot a 78. Meghan Sobotta (So.-Arcadia, WI) is right behind her in a tie for third place after she shot a first round 79. Sobotta shot the lowest back-nine score of anyone in the tournament with a 37.

The next highest Blugold is Jesse Thompson (Jr.-Plover, WI/SPASH) who is in a tie for 16th after shooting an 85. Kim Huber (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) is in a tie for 33rd after she shot an 89.

The Spring Fling concludes tomorrow with final round action at Ironwood Golf Course.
