WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COMPETES IN BLUE AND GOLD SCRIMMAGE

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team kicked off its 2005-06 campaign by competing in its annual Blue and Gold intra-squad scrimmage tonight in Zorn Arena, with the Gold squad defeating the Blue Squad 68-59.

Both teams shot over 50% from the field and combined to go 6-of-10 from beyond the arc in the first half. The Blue squad shot 51% for the game, but still ended up on the losing end.

The Gold team was led by Michelle Burns (So.-Eau Claire, WI/North) who scored 13 points and was a perfect on her one three-point field goal attempt. Brittanni Hakanson (Fr.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville) added 13 points for the Gold squad. Rachel Becker (Sr.-Gilmanton, WI) led the Gold team in rebounds with nine.

Lana Marjanovic (Fr.-Lake Geneva, WI/Badger) had a double-double for the Blue squad scoring 11 points and adding 10 rebounds. Liz Van Drasek (Sr.-Albertville, MN/St. Michael-Albertville) led all scorers with 19 points, going 8-of-12 from the field. Amanda Rounsville (Fr.-Poplar, WI/Northwestern) added 10 points and was perfect from the field on four shot attempts.

The Blugolds will begin their regular season Saturday, November 19th, in the Millikin Tip-Off in Decatur, IL. The action begins at 3 p.m.
