McKINNEY NAMED WIAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MADISON - UW-Eau Claire softball pitcher Mallory McKinney (Jr.-Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today by conference sports information director Matt Stanek.

McKinney has helped the Blugolds jump out to a 6-2 start with their only losses coming against defending NCAA Division III champion St. Thomas (MN). In the season opener, McKinney pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out 12 batters and walking one in a 3-0 victory over Buena Vista (IA). Against St. Thomas, she allowed three earned runs in six innings, striking out six and allowing one walk. Facing Gustavus Adolphus (MN), McKinney allowed six hits and two earned runs in a 9-2 victory. For the season, McKinney is 3-1 with a 1.30 earned run average, posting one shutout and allowing 16 hits with five earned runs. She has struck out 30 of 95 batters faced and allowed just three walks.
