SOCCER TO PLAY TWO CONFERENCE GAMES

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer team is looking to stay unbeaten in conference play this week against UW-Stout and UW-Stevens Point.

Eau Claire 8-0-1 on the season and 2-0-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will travel to Menomonie (WI) who is 2-10-0 on the season and 1-3-0 in the WIAC on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The game will take place at Nelson Field.

The Blugolds won the last meeting between the two teams with a 3-0 victory at the Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire.

On Saturday the Blugolds will travel to first place UW-Stevens Point to take on the Pointers in a conference match. The Pointers are 7-2-1 overall and 3-0 on the WIAC.

Eau Claire beat Stevens Point last year 3-0. This marked the first victory for the Blugolds since 1991. The all-time record is 4-24-4 in favor or the Pointers.

Leading the Blugolds offense is Amy Smith (Jr.- Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) with six goals and three assists. Right behind Smith is Haelee Maurer (Fr.- Appleton, WI/West) with four goals and two assists. The Blugolds have scored twenty goals this season and have allowed only allowed two goals for their opponents.

Allie Rivard (Jr.- Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has 14 saves and five wins and four shut-outs, while Liz Weirick (Sr.- Kenosha, WI/Tremper) has five saves and three wins and two shut-outs.

The Blugolds will travel to Menomonie on Wednesday night to take on the Blue Devils, the game is set to start at 7 p.m.
