SOCCER WINS 1-0 OVER CARLETON COLLEGE

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire soccer team continues the winning streak moving to 7-0-1 with a win today over Carleton College (MN).

The Blugolds ranked 10th nationally (NSCAA/adidas) stayed perfect at home with a 1-0 victory over the Knights. Eau Claire had the pressure on the Knights all game with 14 shots on net.

Amy Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) scored the only goal of the contest at the 19:51 mark in the first half. This is Smith’s fourth goal on the season for the Blugolds. Smith was assisted by Liz Kooistra (Jr.-Lakeville, MN).

Eau Claire used both of their goalies in the game. Liz Weirick (Sr.-Kenosha, WI/Tremper) took the net in the first half and had one save on two shots. Allie Rivard (Jr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) took the net in the second half and had one save on four shots.

The Blugolds ranked 3rd regionally (NSCAA/adidas) will travel to UW-Whitewater on Saturday. The game is set to start at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of the Warhawks. This will be the second conference game for the Blugolds who are 1-0 in the conference.
