SOCCER WINS IN FIRST WIAC COMPETITION

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The sixth-ranked UW-Eau Claire soccer team won 4-0 over UW-La Crosse today in its first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) game.

The Blugolds move to 6-0-1 and move up to 1-0 in the conference. The Eagles are now 4-2-0 overall and 1-2 in the WIAC.

The offense put up 27 shots with 14 on goal. While the defense held the Eagles to just one shot on goal.

Liz Kooistra (Jr.- Lakeville, MN) put the Blugolds on the board first at 11:12 in the first half scoring her third goal of the season. The Blugolds went into the halftime up 1-0, but came out firing in the second half of the game.

Amy Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) got her third goal of the season putting Eau Claire up 2-0 at the 1:38 mark in the second. Allison Smith (Jr.- Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) provided the assist, her second on the season. Haelee Maurer (Fr.-Appleton, WI/West) would make the game 3-0 when she scored her third goal of the season just over a minute later. Gina Christenbury (Fr.- Pleasant Prairie, WI/Kenosha Tremper) got the assist on the goal, her first of the season.

Christenbury got her second goal of the season at the 77:08 mark with the assist going to Brittany Burant (Fr.- Stevens Point, WI), her second on the season.

The Blugolds will have an alumni game tomorrow at the Bollinger Fields at 1:00 p.m. On Wednesday, September 26 they will host Carleton in a non-conference game at 4:00 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields.
