SOCCER STARTS CONFERENCE PLAY AGAINST LA CROSSE

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire soccer team starts their conference play this weekend against UW-La Crosse at the Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire.

Eau Claire coming off a 2-0 win against St. Olaf (MN) is looking to improve on their 5-0-1 record. The Blugolds are ranked sixth in the latest NSCAA/adidas poll, moving up three spots.

The Eagles have started their season 4-2-0 overall and 1-1 in the conference with a 2-1 overtime win over UW-River Falls and a 0-1 loss to UW-Stevens Point. La Crosses’ only other loss came at the hands of the University of St. Thomas (MN) 2-3.

The Blugolds have a host of players with two goals including Amy Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) who also has two game winning goals. Haelee Maurer (Fr.-Appleton, WI/West) leads the team in assists with two.

Senior forward Amy Cory leads the Eagles with seven goals on the season.

The game is set to start at 12:00 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields. This weekend is parent’s weekend for the Blugolds. On Sunday, the Blugolds will have an alumni game at the Bollinger Fields at 1:00 p.m.
