2007 UW-EAU CLAIRE SOCCER ANNOUNCES ROSTER

UW-Eau Claire soccer head coach Sean Yengo, who is in his 11th season, has announced his 2007 roster.

Of the 28-member squad, 15 are returning letterwinners.  The Blugolds return four All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selections from last year’s team.  Midfielder Liz Kooistra (Jr.-Lakeville, MN), defender Allison Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson), forward Amy Smith (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) and goalkeeper Allie Rivard (Jr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) were all named to the All-WIAC team in 2006.

The Blugolds lost just three seniors from last year’s team and only have four on this year’s squad. Seniors Jana Huebner (Mendota Heights, MN/St. Croix Lutheran), Abby Ofstedahl (Apple Valley, MN/Eastview), Anna Talbot (Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) and Liz Weirick (Kenosha, WI/Tremper) should be big contributors this year.

There are also eight juniors on this year’s team. In addition to Kooistra, Rivard, Allison Smith and Amy Smith, Jessica Millard (Madison, WI/La Follette), Allison Muer (Minneapolis, MN), Kristi Olson (Minnetonka, MN) and Cassie Peeters (Little Chute, WI) are also back from last season. All saw significant playing time and look to play a key role this season.

Sophomores Shannon Colin (Reedsburg, WI), Sam Krueger (Elkhorn, WI) and Amanda Shelton (Brown Deer, WI) are also back from last season. Coach Yengo also welcomes 13 new additions to this year’s squad. For a complete roster, go to our roster page.

UWEC will look to build on the success of the last two seasons. The Blugolds have finished in first place in the conference the last two seasons and made it all the way to the NCAA Division III Sectionals in 2006. The Blugolds finished with a 23-3 overall record, which is the best record ever achieved in the history of the program.
