MEN’S TRACK SITS IN FOURTH PLACE AT WIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

RIVER FALLS – The UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team earned 30 points and finds itself in fourth place after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted here today at Ramer Field on the campus of UW-River Falls.

UW-La Crosse ended the day in first place with 72 points followed by UW-Oshkosh with 46 points and UW-Whitewater with 40 points. UW-Stevens Point finished behind the Blugolds where they are in fifth place with 28 points.

In the throwing events Ryan Brohmer (Sr.-La Crosse/Logan) finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 178-2. Matt Crosby (Jr.-Glenwood City) placed third in the javelin with a throw of 154-1.

Pole vaulter Josh Boehm (Jr.-Mosinee) and jumper Kirk Schmidt (Fr.-Athens) each placed seventh in their respective events. Boehm cleared 14-6.75 in the pole vault and Schmidt leaped 22-5 in the long jump.

The distance duo of Kevin Hall (So.-Green Bay/Preble) and Jules Miller (Jr.-Green Bay/East) posted another strong showing in the 10,000-meter run. Hall finished third with a time of 31:17.96 with Miller right behind in fourth place crossing the finish line in 31:28.67.

Brian Christ (Jr.-Arcadia) finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.44 seconds. The Blugold 4 x 800-meter relay team earned points by finishing fourth clocking in at 7:51.52.

Frankie Adams (So.-Burnsville, MN) and Bryan Tschudy (So.-New Richmond) both advanced to tomorrow’s 100-meter dash final. Adams finished fifth in a time of 11.01 seconds. Tschudy placed sixth clocking in at 11.04 seconds.

Chris Kupfer (So.-Germantown) advances to the finals of the 400-meter dash as he finished sixth with a time of 48.93 seconds. Wes Fischer (So.-Rosemount, MN) qualified for the finals of the 800-meter dash by finishing ninth in 1:55.10.

The WIAC Championships will conclude tomorrow at Ramer Field. Action is set to begin at 10:00 A.M.
