MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD VICTORIOUS AT BORDER BATTLE
NORTHFIELD, MN – The UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team completed the Blugold sweep at St. Olaf’s Border Battle today as it won with 197 points. St. Thomas (MN) took the runner-up spot with a 140 score. St. Olaf (MN) had 137.5 points for third while UW-Stout placed fourth on 125.5 points. The track events had many top finishers. Frankie Adams (So.-Burnsville, MN) took the 55-meter dash with a 6.58 time, winning by .01 seconds. Chris Kupfer (So.-Germantown) had a 51.09 400-meter dash while Adam Wolfe (Jr.-Marshfield) won the 1-mile event in 4:29.90. Wes Fischer (So.-Rosemount, MN) ran a 2:31.91 1000-meter run and Ted Lillie (Jr.-North St. Paul, MN) took the 3000-meter run in 8:52.72. Nick Aliota (Sr.-Brookfield/Central) also placed first in the 55-meter hurdles on an 8.02 time, with his next opponent .02 seconds behind him. The ‘A’ relay team racked up a couple wins, the first in the 4x200-meter relay on a 1:30.71 showing and the second in the 4x400-meter relay on a 3:24.28 effort. A pair of Blugolds took first in the field events. Nick Desotelle (So.-Weston/Schofield D.C. Everest) won the pole vault on 4.53 meters (14’ 10 ¼”) as Sam Johnson (So.-Deer Park/Amery) grabbed first in the weight throw with 17.07 meters (56’). The team also took second through fourth in the triple jump with Joe Felber (So.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) and his 13.35 meters (43’ 9 ¾”) garnering second place. The next Blugold action is Friday at the UW-Stout Invite. Then the team will then compete in the UW-Oshkosh Invite before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships. Complete Results- PH -
