MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD DOMINATES BLUGOLD OPEN
EAU CLAIRE – Competing as two separate teams, the UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field team placed first and second place at the seven-team Blugold Open hosted here today at the Olson Addition. The Eau Claire Blue team won the Open with 204 points followed by the Eau Claire Gold team with 136 points. In all the Blugolds won eight individual events during the meet. In the hurdles Nick Aliota (Sr.-Brookfield/Central) advanced and won the finals of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.91 seconds. Eric Atherton of Bethel (MN) was the only non-Blugold to advance to the finals. Wes Fischer (So.-Rosemount, MN) won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58.00. The Blugolds swept the distance events as Kevin Hall (So.-Green Bay/Preble) won the 3,000-meter run in 8:55.00 and Jules Miller (Jr.-Green Bay/East) won the 5,000-meter run clocking in at 15:26.56. Nick Desotelle (So.-Weston/D.C. Everest) won the pole vault by clearing 14-10. Joe Felber (So.-Manitowoc/Lincoln) was the victor in the triple jump leaping 44-8. Sam Johnson (So.-Deer Park/Amery) swept the throwing events by winning both the shot put and the weight throw. Johnson took first in the shot put with a toss of 43-6.5 and the weight throw with a toss of 55-9. Up next the Blugolds will travel to Whitewater to compete in the UW-Whitewater Invitational with a starting time slated for 10:00 A.M. Complete Results - KM -
