MEN'S TRACK HAS FINE KIP JANVRIN OPEN PERFORMANCE

INDIANOLA, IA - The UW-Eau Claire men's track team notched some notable accomplishments at Simpson College's Kip Janvrin Open, which used to be known as the Simpson Twilight Classic but still runs until late into the evening.

Only one of two top placements for the team went to the 4x400-meter relay squad. The winning Eau Claire time was 3:25.41.

Andrew Kling (So.-Marshfield) leapt 1.83 meters (6') in the high jump for one of the two runner-up spots for Eau Claire on the day. It tied him for second with seven others.

Two Blugolds managed third in their events. Grant Haugan (Fr.-Green Bay/Ashwaubenon) placed third in the 400-meter dash in 50.68, which is his best this season. In the 800-meter run Wes Fischer (Fr.-Rosemount, MN) grabbed third with his season-best time of 1:56.64.

Bryan Tschudy (Fr.-New Richmond) tied for fifth in the 200-meter dash on a time of 22.70, which was the only fifth place Blugold performance today.

In the 10,000-meter run only two runners finished out of three competitors, and they were both Blugolds. Mark Sanders (Fr.-Hammond/St. Croix Central) took first in 33:58.62 while Eric DeSalvo (Fr.-Appleton/East) finished second in 34:21.85.

Eau Claire will next head to Oshkosh for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships. The championships occur next Friday and Saturday.
