MEN'S TRACK FINDS SUCCESS AT FALCON INVITE

RIVER FALLS - A week after barely finishing second at the Viking Olympics, the UW-Eau Claire men's track team took first in many events at today's Falcon Invite, hosted by UW-River Falls. No team results were kept, however.

Of 21 events, Eau Claire won 7. That was the most for any school competing at the invite.

The track events saw many Blugold champions. Frankie Adams (Fr.-Burnsville, MN) repeated last week's victory in the 100-meter dash with another first place run today. This time he won in 11.20. Wes Fischer (Fr.-Rosemount, MN) ran a winning 1:59.33 in the 800-meter run. In the 5000-meter run, Ted Lillie (So.-North St. Paul, MN) took the top spot with a 15:36.87 effort. Nick Aliota (Jr.-Brookfield/Central) took first in the 110-meter hurdles with a 15.41 time. The 4x400-meter relay squad won with a 3:26.57 run.

Eau Claire excelled in the field, as well. Brent Tice (Sr.-Colfax) had a shot put heave of 14.80 meters (48'63/4"). Nick Desotelle (Fr.-Schofield/D.C. Everest) won the pole vault on a distance of 4.25 meters (13'111/4"). Though it only got him a second place, Al Oleson (Jr.-Wausau/West) garnered an NCAA Division III provisional qualification with a hammer throw of 52.34 meters (171'9").

The Blugolds return to action next Friday at their home meet, the outdoor Blugold Open. It will start at noon.
