MEN'S TRACK SENDS FIVE RUNNERS TO OSHKOSH INVITE
OSHKOSH - A day after winning the Blue Devil Open for its third consecutive top place meet, the UW-Eau Claire men's track team sent five participants to the UW-Oshkosh Invitational today where the they took ninth out of nine with three points. Oshkosh won with 249 points while UW-Stevens Point's 166 managed second. Third went to Loras College at 106. Fourth place Ripon College racked up 41 points and St. Norbert College took fifth with a 28 score. Though the men finished ninth the eight teams ahead of them will not go on the win-loss column for the Eau Claire men's track team. The main event today was the 5000-meter run, as all but one of the five competed in it. Micah Hernandez (Sr.-Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran) took seventh on a 15:42.77 time. He took two of the points while Kevin Hall (Fr.-Green Bay/Preble) grabbed the other on an eighth-place 15:43.52 effort. Jules Miller (So.-Green Bay/East) ran it in 15:50.35 for ninth and Nate Hall (Sr.-Green Bay/Preble) claimed 11th in 16:19.55. In the 3000-meter run, Eric DeSalvo (Fr.-Appleton/East) finished 10th in 9:28.64 to be the only non-5K runner on the day. The next event for the men's track team is the Pointer Qualifier in Stevens Point. It starts at 10:00 a.m. next Saturday. UW-Oshkosh Invite Results - PH -
