MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS

ST. PETER, Minn. – After winning its last five meets, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Gustavus Adolphus College here today.

The Blugolds are now 11-3 on the season, while Gustavus improves to 7-1.

Eau Claire was unable to get into a rhythm and dropped all its singles’ matches in straight sets. Kevin Fawcett (So.-Madison, Wis./Verona) played close in the first set, but ended up losing 7-5. He then lost the match, falling 6-1 in the second set. The rest of the singles matches were not as close.

The only win for the Blugolds today was at No. 3 doubles. The duo of C.J. Rose (Sr.-Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley) and Aaron Johnson (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.) was able to defeat Gustavus’ Jethwa Ashok and Ted Roth 8-6. Rose and Johnson remain undefeated in doubles play this season, sporting a 6-0 record.

The Blugolds will not be off for two weeks before they head to South Carolina for a spring break trip. The team will have six meets at Hilton Head, South Carolina beginning Sunday, March 16 and running through Thursday, March 20.
