MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO DIVISION II HAWAII PACIFIC

WAIPIA, HI – At Central Oahu Regional Park, HPU dominated the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire en route to a 9-0 victory here today at the Central Regional Oahu Park (CORP).

With the win the #33 ranked Sea Warriors improve to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Pac West, while the Blugolds fall to 8-7 on the season.

In singles play, Mark Mestan took the court No. 1 singles defeating Tim Eisele (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN) 6-1, 6-0. Anton Samuilau downed Aaron Nordenskjold (Sr.-Red Wing, MN) at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. Daniel Llarenas was tested at No. 4 singles by Brett Gressick (Jr.-De Pere) but prevailed in straight sets 6-3 6-4. Frank Godinet won at No. 6 singles over Brandon Buth (Jr.-Appleton/West) 6-3, 6-1.

Godinet delivered in doubles action as well, teaming up with Jan Hroch at No. 3 doubles defeating Nordenskjold and Jeff Peterson (Sr.-Edina, MN) 8-3. Henrik Bode and Samuilau won at No. 1 doubles over Eisele and C.J. Rose (Jr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley) 8-3, and Peter Raben and Mestan teamed up to oust Erik Brandner (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) and Phil Loprinzi (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) 8-2.

Up next the Blugolds return to the mainland where they will host Northwestern (MN) on Monday, March 26 at 4:00 PM at the Simpson Tennis Courts.
