MEN’S TENNIS BLANKS LAWRENCE
APPLETON – The UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team continues to play good tennis defeating Lawrence University 9-0 here tonight. The Blugolds improve to 7-5 in dual meets this season winning seven of their last nine meets after starting the season 0-3. The Blugolds own a 56-7 match record in their seven wins with four meet victories have come shutting out the opponent 9-0. Lawrence falls to 1-3 on the year. Eau Claire won all six singles matches in straight sets. Brett Gressick (Jr.-De Pere) and Phil Loprinzi (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Mayo) won each of their matches by 6-0, 6-0 counts at No. 5 and No. 6 flights, respectively. Erik Brandner (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) fell just short of a straight set shutout defeating Kyle Nodarse at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0. Aaron Nordenskjold (Sr.-Red Wing, MN) defeated Travis Fondow at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Steve Lantz (So.-Rochester, MN/Century) beat Nick Dufficy 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Tim Eisele (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN) had the toughest singles match of the day defeating Daniel Hertel at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2. The Blugolds dominated doubles play losing just four games in three matches. At No. 1 doubles the team of Eisele/Lantz defeated Hertel/Dufficy 8-2 and Nordenskjold/Loprinzi beat Fondow/Nodarse at No. 2 doubles by the same 8-2 count. C.J. Rose (Jr.-Lakeville, MN/Apple Valley) and Brandon Buth (Jr.-Appleton/West) blanked Klaus/Schreiber 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. Up next the Blugolds will remain in the Fox Valley as they take on St. Norbert College in Green Bay. Action is set to begin at 10:30 A.M. Final Results
