MEN’S TENNIS GOES 2-1 AT LUTHER INVITATIONAL

DECORAH, IA – The UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team won its first two dual meets of the Luther Invitational but fell to the host Luther College (IA) in its final dual meet to finish 2-1 on the weekend.

On Friday night, Eau Claire narrowly defeated Augustana College (IL) by a score of 5-4. Aaron Nordenskjold (Sr.-Red Wing, MN) at No.3 singles, Erik Brandner (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) at No.4 singles, Brett Gressick (Jr.-De Pere, WI) at No.5 singles, and Jeff Peterson (Sr.-Edina, MN) at No.6 singles were victorious. Brandner and Peterson at No.3 doubles were the only doubles team to win.

In their first dual meet this morning, the Blugolds swept Cornell College (IA) 9-0 to improve to 5-4 on the season.

In their last dual meet of the invitational, Eau Claire suffered a 8-1 loss to undefeated Luther College. Brandner was the only winner at No.4 singles with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Thomas Orser. The loss drops the Blugolds back 5-5 on the year.

The Blugolds will travel to face St. Mary’s College (MN) on Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
