MEN’S TENNIS FALLS AT GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS

ST. PETER, MN – The UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team fell to national powerhouse Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 9-0 here today at the Swanson Tennis Center.

The Blugolds were unable to win a set in singles competition against the Gusties, who advanced to the NCAA Division III national championships a year ago. Aaron Nordenskjold (Sr.-Red Wing, MN) and Erik Brandner (Jr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) gave the Gusties their toughest competition in singles play. Nordenskjold lost to Chad Olson at No. 3 flight 6-2, 6-4 while Brandner lost to Ben Tomasek at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-4.

Brandner and Brandon Buth (Jr.-Appleton/West) where narrowly defeated by the duo of David Koppel/Chad Olson 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.

The Blugolds will remain in St. Peter for the weekend as they face Division II Minnesota State-Mankato in a dual meet tomorrow at the Swanson Tennis Center. Action is set to begin at 9:00 A.M.
