MEN'S TENNIS HANDLES OSHKOSH

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team ended a two-meet losing streak today by defeating UW-Oshkosh by a score of 6-1 in La Crosse.

The win improves the Blugolds record to 14-5 this season, while Oshkosh falls to a record of 9-11

The Blugolds won five of the six singles matches on the day. At No.1 singles Tim Eisele (So.-Apple Valley, MN) cruised to victory 6-2, 6-1. At No.2 singles Jake Znidarsich (So.-La Crosse, WI/Central) defeated his opponent in a third-set tiebreaker 1-6, 6-2, 7-6.

Steve Lantz (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Century) at No.3 singles and Erik Brandner (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) at No.4 singles both defeated their opponents by the same score 6-3, 6-4. Kevin Fawcett (Fr.-Madison, WI/Verona) at No.5 singles was the final Blugold singles player to win, winning 6-3, 6-1.

On the doubles side, the Blugolds picked up the point for winning two of the three matches. The No.1 doubles team of Eisele and Lantz won 8-4 and the No.2 doubles team of Znidarsich and Aaron Nordenskjold (Jr.-Red Wing, MN) won 8-6.

The Blugolds will stay in La Crosse as they will face UW-Whitewater tomorrow at 9 a.m. and then face UW-La Crosse at 1 p.m. also tomorrow.
