MEN'S TENNIS WINS FIRST TWO MATCHES ON SPRING BREAK TRIP

HILTON HEAD, SC - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won their first two matches on their spring break trip, defeating Hope (MI) 4-3 and Asbury (KY) 7-0 here today.

Against Hope all four Blugold wins came in singles play with three of the four wins coming in three sets. Jake Znidarsich (So.-La Crosse/Central) defeated Bob Dody 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, Aaron Nordenskjold (Jr.-Red Wing, MN) defeated Steve Malvitz 1-6, 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Erik Brandner (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) defeated Zach Huber 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Jeff Peterson (Jr.-Edina, MN) was the lone Blugold straight set winner defeating Nate Reed 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

Against Asbury the Blugolds did not lose a match in singles and doubles play. All six singles matches were won by the Blugolds in straight sets. In doubles play the team of Znidarsich and Nordenskjold won 8-3 in No. 1 doubles action. At No. 2 doubles Tim Eisele (So.-Apple Valley, MN) and Brandon Buth (So.-Appleton/West) won 8-3 followed by Peterson and C.J. Rose (So.-Apple Valley, MN) winning at No. 3 doubles 8-2.

The Blugolds will continue their spring break trip facing the College of Wooster (OH) today at Hilton Head, South Carolina.
