MEN'S TENNIS PICKS UP SECOND WIN AT LUTHER INVITE
DECORAH, IA - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team picked up its fourth-straight dual meet victory and its second Luther Invitational victory by defeating Cornell College this morning 7-0. The win improves the Blugolds to 6-1 overall this season. Cornell falls to 0-4 on the season. The Blugolds swept the singles competition winning all six matches. All of the Blugold singles wins were in straight sets. Jeff Peterson (Jr.-Edina, MN) at No.5 singles didn't allow a single game in his victory over his opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0. At No.4 singles Steve Lantz (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Century) only allowed one game defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-0. Tim Eisele (So.-Apple Valley, MN) at No.1 singles won his sixth match of the season defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-0. Other singles winners include: Jake Znidarsich (So.-La Crosse, WI/Central) at No.2 singles, Erik Brandner (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) at No.3 singles, and Kevin Fawcett (Fr.-Madison, WI/Verona) at No.6 singles. The Blugolds once again won two of the three doubles matches to gain a point for the team. It was the No. 2 doubles team of Znidarsich and Aaron Nordenskjold (Jr.-Red Wing, MN) winning its match 8-1. The other doubles win was by the No.3 team of Peterson and C.J. Rose (So.-Apple Valley, MN) who beat their opponents 8-0. The Blugolds will face Luther College later on today for the team's last meet at the Luther Invitational.
