MEN'S TENNIS MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team followed yesterday's victory over Concordia-Moorhead with a 7-0 drubbing today of Northwestern College of Minnesota in which Eau Claire did not lose a single match.

Today's play at the McPhee Physical Education Center improves Eau Claire to 4-1 on the year, while the Eagles drop to 0-2.

At No. 1 singles, Tim Eisele (So.-Apple Valley, MN) defeated his opponent in two sets with 6-1 and 6-0 scores. In No. 2 matchups, Jake Znidarsich (So.-La Crosse/Central) won 6-1 and 6-1 to claim another Blugold point.

Erik Brandner (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) won 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Steve Lantz (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Century) did not allow his foe a single point in No. 3 singles play. He won 6-0 both sets.

Kevin Fawcett (Fr.-Madison/Verona) picked up a No. 5 singles victory in a 6-2 and 6-0 match. Jeff Peterson (Jr.-Edina, MN) and his 6-0 and 6-1 sets rounded out the top six singles for Eau Claire.

On the doubles side, there again was not a Blugold loss to be found. Eisele and Lantz teamed up for an 8-2 No. 1 victory. In No. 2 doubles, Znidarsich and partner Aaron Nordenskjold (Jr.-Red Wing, MN) won 8-0. Finally, Brandon Buth (So.-Appleton/West) and Brett Gressick (So.-De Pere) notched an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

A busy Iowa weekend is in store for the tennis team. The Blugolds will head to Decorah, IA to face Hamline University on Friday and remain there to play both Cornell College and Luther College on Saturday. Friday's is at 8:30 p.m. while the ones on Saturday are 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
