MEN'S TENNIS WINS SEASON OPENER

ST. PAUL, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team won its season opener today, defeating St. Thomas 6-3.

The Blugolds won five of the six singles matches. No.1 singles player Tim Eisele (So.-Apple Valley, MN) defeated his opponent 6-3, 7-5. Jake Znidarsich (So.-La Crosse, WI/Central) defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2 at No.2 singles. Brett Gressick (So.-De Pere, WI) at No.4 singles defeated his opponent in a very close match 7-5, 6-7, 7-6. Steve Lantz (Fr.-Rochester, MN/Century) at No. 5 singles and Kevin Fawcett (Fr.-Madison, WI/Verona) at No. 6 singles also picked up singles wins.

The Blugolds picked up one victory in doubles as the No. 3 team of C.J. Rose (So.-Apple Valley, MN) and Jeff Peterson (Jr.-Edina, MN) defeated their opponents 8-4.

Next, the Blugolds will travel to face St. Scholastica tomorrow morning with the action beginning at 9 a.m.
