SWIMMING AND DIVING SUFFER DUO DUAL MEET LOSSES

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both lost two separate dual meets today to St. Cloud State (MN) and UW-Stevens Point.

The men lost their first dual meet 202.00-41.00 to St. Cloud State and the second 181.00-62.00 to the Pointers. On the women’s side, the Blugolds fell 180.00-63.00 to the Huskies and 180.00-63.00 to Stevens Point.

For the women swimmers, Angie Bakula (Fr.-Appleton/West) took first on a10:58.37 1,000-yard freestyle and on a 5:22.70 500-yard freestyle. Mari Bodensteiner (So.-Red Wing, MN) placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:20.30.

The relay squad of Bakula, Megan Finley (Fr.-Waunakee), Megan Lindner (Fr.-Muskego), and Ann Grossklaus (So.-Wausau/West) had a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle race with a 3:49.91 time.

The women’s divers took a fourth-place finish in the one-meter with Sarah Myers (Sr.-Eau Claire/North) and her 216.20 points.

For the men’s swimmers, Brian Jordan (Jr.-Madison/West) finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:11.55.

The relay team of Pat Finley (Jr.-Waunakee), Jordan, Duane Mateski (Fr.-Eau Claire/Memorial), and Brett Olsen (So.-New Berlin/West Allis Hale) grabbed fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a 3:24.79 time.

On the men’s boards, Kenny Ritt (So.-Racine/Horlick) placed third with 229.50 points in the one-meter event. Ritt also took fourth in the three-meter on 224.55 points.

The next event is on Friday at home. The dual meet against UW-River Falls begins at 5:30 p.m.
