DAY ONE OF GENE DAVIS INVITE OVER FOR SWIMMING AND DIVING
APPLETON - After day one of Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational, the UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving competitors are in second place at 217 while the men find themselves in third with a 186 score. The top women's team is UW-Green Bay at 345. Directly behind Eau Claire is UW-Whitewater with 208. The same schools pose problems for the men, as well. The men follow the 359 total of Green Bay and the 220 score of Whitewater. Lawrence University's 148 tally is good for fourth. The only top-place finish for the Blugolds today went to Cori Severson (Sr.-Brainerd, MN) and her 54.92 100-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard butterfly, Annie Gorman (Sr.-Menomonie) nabbed fourth with a 2:21.22 race. Emmie Lee (So.-Zimmerman, MN/Elk River) took sixth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:20.44. The 'A' team took fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 8:21.69 and fifth in the 200-yard medley relay on a 1:58.61 time. Brian Hauerwas (So.-Racine/CASE) finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:06.62. Patrick Finley (Fr.-Waunakee) swam a 50.12 100-yard freestyle for sixth place. Peter Schultz (Fr.-Oakdale, MN/North) had a 2:25.86 swim in the 200-yard breaststroke to take sixth. The men's 'A' team finished fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 7:37.17 and fourth in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:44.35. The meet concludes tomorrow in Appleton.
