SWIMMING AND DIVING FALL TO STEVENS POINT

STEVENS POINT - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's teams lost to UW-Stevens Point by scores of 183-60 for the men and 188-55 for the women.

For the divers, Scott Heatwole (Sr.-Port Washington) captured the top spot in the one meter with a 252.50 night and in the three meter with 254.45.

Brian Hauerwas (So.-Racine/CASE) claimed third in the 200 yard backstroke with a 2:11.47 swim. Hauerwas also teamed up with Patrick Finley (Fr.-Waunnakee), Brian Schwartz (Jr.-Bemidji, MN), and ]Nick Peterson (Jr.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) to finish third in the 400 yard freestyle relay. They notched a 3:28.20 race.

On the women's side, Emily Viau (Jr.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) was runner-up in the 1000 yard freestyle with 11:25.52. In the 200 yard freestyle, Annie Gorman (Sr.-Menomonie) ran a second place race in 2:01.16. Cori Severson (Sr.-Brainerd, MN) ended in second as well, her race being 25.13 50 yard freestyle. Gorman again took second with a 2:18.90 200 yard butterfly. Gorman, Kyle Welke (So.-Eau Claire/North), Viau, and Severson earned a runner-up finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay at 3:48.16.

The men are 3-2 overall, 0-2 in dual meets, and finally 0-1 in WIAC dual meets. The women, meanwhile, are 4-1 overall, 1-1 in dual meets, and 0-1 in conference dual meets.

The swimming and diving teams take a rest until their next event, that being the WIAC Conference Relays. It begins at 10:00 a.m. and takes place in La Crosse.
